Pulled from the Findlay Market Cookbook, Paul Picton, owner of Maverick Chocolate, shares his shop's recipe for Frozen Hot Chocolate, a lovely winter delicacy made with award-winning chocolate.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups Snowville whole milk, divided
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- 4 teaspoons granulated sugar
- Two 75% Vietnam Dark Chocolate Bar, chopped
- Lightly sweetened whipped cream
- Maverick Chocolate shavings, for serving
Directions:
- In a small saucepan, whisk together ¾ cup milk, cocoa powder, and sugar until smooth. Heat over medium, stirring frequently, until the mixture almost comes to a boil. Remove from the heat and whisk in the chopped chocolate until smooth.
- Stir in ¾ cup of milk and pour mixture into ice cube trays; freeze until solid.
- To serve, put the remaining ½ cup of milk in a blender and add a few cubes of the frozen chocolate mixture. Blend, adding more cubes as they incorporate, until the mixture is smooth and icy.
- Pour into parfait glasses and top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
