After years of traveling as an engineer and bringing home interesting chocolate treats, Paul Picton and his wife, Marlene, decided to open their own business with their sons. In 2014 they opened their first Maverick Chocolate Co. shop here at Findlay Market based on their shared passion for genuine, pure, and ethical chocolate!
Maverick Chocolate Co. is a bean-to-bar chocolate maker. They buy ethically sourced cocoa beans from farmers and Co-ops. From there, they sort and crack the beans open, then the cocoa nibs are slowly stone ground to form cocoa butter which is aged, tempered, and molded into chocolate bars. Their attention to detail at every stage produces a variety of unique and award-winning chocolates available for purchase. They also offer Chocolate baskets, powders, hazelnut spreads, and more.
