In 1999, De Stewart was appointed as a Kentucky Colonel - the highest title of honor that can be bestowed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Not long after, he pitched and presented a show on the Northern Kentucky cable channel that showed how spices can change everyday cooking. This created the need for a spice-centered shop! After a year of selling at farmers markets around the metro De and his wife, Susan, opened their first store in 2006. This first location still resides here at Findlay Market and has provided fresh, specialty spices to our city for nearly two decades! Hats off to the Colonel!
